"No-one's home!" was how architect Alvar Aalto answered phone, if someone called him before noon. This is one of the many stories and legends you will hear about this internationally acclaimed Finnish architect on our 2 hour tour, which follows his work in Helsinki. Our capital city is full of buildings designed by Aalto; some of them national monuments while some smaller and private. His draw the sketches to his first building in Helsinki on 1940s and the last ones are from 1970s.
The tour departs in the downtown area, from the separately agreed location, and you will see the Aalto's buildings in the central Helsinki. From there we take you to Töölö area to see other works by Aalto and finally to Munkkiniemi neighbourhood, where the studio and resindencial home from 1930's are located. During the drive our guide will tell you more about Aalto's childhood, family and work. The tour also shows you the final resting place of academician Aalto which is in the pictoresque Artist Hill of Hietaniemi cemetary.
